About Tim Belvin
Software architect, fractional CTO, developer and builder. Former Microsoft.
Tim Belvin is a software architect, developer, consultant, and builder focused on the emerging intersection of AI agents and traditional software engineering.
Tim spent 19 years at Microsoft before going independent in 2011. Since then he has built his own companies and worked as a custom software developer and fractional CTO for clients ranging from startups to Fortune 500 enterprises. Across more than 30 years in software, he has turned complex business problems into practical technology solutions. He has deep expertise in C#, .NET, Azure, mobile development, APIs, systems integration, and application architecture, including nearly 60 mobile applications built with Xamarin Forms and .NET MAUI.
His current focus is on agentic software, systems in which AI moves beyond chat and becomes an active participant in workflows, decision-making, automation, and software development. His work includes AccelRater, an agentic insurance rating platform, as well as ongoing experimentation with AI agent architectures, development harnesses, and AI-assisted product development.
Tim works daily at the leading edge of AI-assisted engineering. He is a power user of Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot, and knows the strengths of each: Claude for deep reasoning, long-context analysis and agentic coding, ChatGPT for rapid ideation and broad problem-solving, and Copilot for in-editor development speed. Rather than treating them as novelties, he orchestrates them as a coordinated toolkit across architecture, coding, review, documentation and product work, letting him deliver at a pace and quality that traditional teams struggle to match.
Tim brings a pragmatic engineer's perspective to AI: the goal isn't simply to add AI to existing software, but to rethink how software can be designed when intelligent agents become part of the architecture.
